The Aurore class freighter was a model of bulky freighter transport produced by Koensayr Manufacturing during the years leading up to the Clone Wars. It was sometimes reffered to as the Zygerrian slave ship due to its widespread use by slavers such as Zygerrians and Thalassians
History[]
The Aurore class was introduced sometime prior to 70 BBY, and by that time, were in full production. Many were sold to the Trade Federation as part of their vast merchant fleet, and they were also bought in relatively large numbers by the InterGalactic Banking Clan.
Although the class was popular with many freight-running organizations, it was most commonly utilized by the Zygerrian Slavers Guild, who owned over a thousand units, due to it's low cost, robustness, and reliability, and for this reason, earned the nickname of the "Zygerrian slave ship".
During the Clone Wars, Darts D'Nar, a Zygerrian who allied himself with Count Dooku and the Confederacy of Independent Systems, captained a reddish-colored slave ship named the Tecora. Another grey-colored ship, the Spartan was used to transport a captive Obi-Wan Kenobi, CT-7567 "Rex" and the Kiros governor Roshti to the planet Kadavo.
Another Aurore class, the InterGalactic Banking Clan-owned ALC-9, was stolen by brothers Savage Opress and Darth Maul from the Cybloc Transfer Station, after their raid on it was successful.
Another Aurore-class freighter was owned and captained by the Dug entrepreneur Preigo, and was utilized in his circus, Preigo's Traveling World of Wonder. In 20 BBY, it made a stop on the planet Florrum, to perform for the Ohnaka Gang, but the show did not go as planned as a group of Jedi Initiates attempting to rescue Jedi Ahsoka Tano from the pirates.
One famous Aurore class freighter was the Noonday Sun, which was utilized by the covert Republic Group, piloted by Otkar Evoros, and was utilized for smuggling by several parties, including former Jedi Master Camil Fon, and would later fall into the hands of Evoros's son, Garlen Evoros, and saw action in many battles of the Galactic Civil War.
